The Secret Diary of Adrian Mole is a souvenir of Scotland for all the women in the family. Sue Townsend’s best-selling book was first produced in 1984 and is now about to be performed in Le Vésinet by the fantastic International Players.
The book “is modern British comedy at its best, exploring the trials and tribulations of our favourite “intellectual” teenager - young Adrian Mole, who has to deal with his increasingly dysfunctional family, a merciless school bully, a cantankerous old pensioner, and his growing passion for a remarkably determined school girl, Pandora.”
The International Players’ website describes it as ”a faithful portrait of England in the 80s, Women’s Lib, pop songs, punks and all, this musical play has the added entertainment of songs, written by the hit-writing team Ken Howard and Alan Blaikely, which capture the intimate moods and humorous insights of the characters.”
Seems it’s a hit with adults as well so don’t knit your brows yet!
